A woodland cabin in the Luxulyan Valley near St Blazey, sleeping 2 in a king-size mezzanine bed reached by a permanent ladder. The 7-acre site has meadows, broadleaf woodland, a hobbit hamlet, bell tents and a woodland trail, with a wood burner and open fire for warmth. Dogs are welcome. Carlyon Bay is 2.5 miles away, the Eden Project is a mile, and Par Sands beach is within 3 miles. The Treffry viaduct of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site sits on the same lane.

A short, level walk through the woodland leads to the cabin, with wheelbarrows provided for luggage. The open-plan lounge/diner is simply decorated, with the wood burner in the corner; the first basket of logs is included and more can be bought from the owner at £5 a bag. There's a TV and DVD player, plus a small but efficient kitchen with oven, hob, fridge/freezer and microwave. The ground-floor shower room has a corner shower cubicle and WC. The permanent ladder leads to the platformed king-size bed in the roof space, where headroom is reduced and a window sits behind the bed.

Outside, a veranda and garden give views over the woodland and valley, with seating, a BBQ and a fire bowl for evenings outdoors. Arts and crafts workshops run on site through the year, and the Eden Project's seasonal events, from winter ice skating to the summer Eden Sessions concerts, are a mile down the lane.

Best for couples wanting a secluded escape close to the Eden Project, thanks to the woodland setting and wood burner. Less good for guests with mobility needs or young children, since the bed is reached by a permanent ladder to a mezzanine with reduced headroom.
