Tehidy

Tehidy is a three-bedroom cottage on Towan Valley in Porthtowan, a small north Cornwall surfing settlement between Portreath and St Agnes. Six guests sleep across three bedrooms with two bathrooms - a practical ratio for a group of six. The garden has a private hot tub and provides space for sitting out after a day on the coast.

Inside, the practical list is solid: WiFi, parking, a dishwasher, and a washing machine cover most needs for a week-long stay. The kitchen is set up for self-catering. Friday changeover.

Porthtowan beach is roughly 4.8km by road, though the coast path gets there more directly. The beach is a surf beach with a strong local following, and the Blue Bar sits above it on the clifftop - one of the better-known beach bars on the north coast, open for food and drinks through the season. Parking at the beach gets tight in summer, so arriving on foot from the coast path or early in the morning makes a difference.

Portreath Beach is 4.8km, and Trevaunance Cove at St Agnes is 4.9km. St Agnes is worth the 10-minute drive for its tin-mining heritage - the Wheal Coates engine house stands on the clifftop above the cove, and the village has a cluster of independent shops and cafes.

Tehidy Country Park is roughly 4km inland from the cottage - 250 acres of managed woodland with walking and cycling trails, rare in this part of Cornwall which is predominantly farmland and heath.

Right for groups who want a hot tub, surf access, and a base within reach of the north coast's best spots. Not ideal for those who need to walk to the beach.
