Fistral Beach is 1.4 miles north, accessed via the road into Newquay. Crantock village has the Old Albion pub, a 13th-century church, a village green, and a small shop - quieter than Newquay in character even at peak season.

Newquay is about 2 miles northeast, reachable on foot at low tide via the Gannel crossing. The town adds restaurants, Newquay Zoo, and the Blue Reef Aquarium to the mix without requiring an overnight stay in the centre. Changeover is Saturday.
