The Cornishman

The Cornishman is a three-bedroom terraced cottage on Port Isaac's cobbled streets, sleeping six with sea views from the living area and private garden. The fishing village, familiar to television viewers as the fictional Portwenn from Doc Martin, has independent shops, galleries and cafes within a short walk.

All three bedrooms have king-size zip-and-link beds that convert to twins on request, suiting three couples, six friends or a mixed family group. Three bathrooms give each bedroom convenient access. The two upstairs bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms, and the ground-floor bedroom is next to the family bathroom. Private parking is for one car. Wi-Fi, a dishwasher and a washer/dryer are included, along with parking and space for up to two dogs.

Port Isaac's working harbour sits below the village, where boats still launch from the slipway at low tide and Nathan Outlaw's Michelin-starred restaurant serves fresh seafood. Port Gaverne Beach, a sheltered cove with sand at low tide, is 300 metres away. Tregardock Beach is 3.2 miles and Polzeath Beach 4.2 miles. **Best for:** three couples or a family wanting flexible beds, three bathrooms, sea views and room for two dogs. **Less good for:** guests needing step-free access.
