The village has an aquarium, a museum covering the local pilchard and mackerel trade, several pubs, and a range of cafes and fish restaurants clustered along the harbourfront.

Pentewan Beach is 1.4 miles north along the B3273 - a long sandy beach backed by the Pentewan Stream, with a large holiday park and seasonal facilities. Gorran Haven, a quieter south-facing sandy beach in a small village, is 2.1 miles south. Hemmick Beach, a narrow cove used mainly by locals, is 3 miles. Wi-Fi and a washing machine are included.
