The Old Byre

The Old Byre is a converted barn at Treworval Farm, near Mawnan Smith in south Cornwall. Mawnan Smith sits 3 miles southwest of Falmouth, with Trebah Garden - a privately owned 26-acre ravine garden with tree ferns and a private beach on the Helford River - within the village parish. Helford Passage beach is about 1.5 miles south, where the Ferryboat Inn serves food directly above the riverbank and a seasonal foot ferry crosses to Helford village. Maenporth, a sheltered sandy cove with a cafe, is about 1.8 miles east. Falmouth, with Pendennis Castle and the National Maritime Museum, is about 10 minutes by car.

**Best for:** Two couples or a family with older children who want separate en-suites, dog owners needing a rural farm setting close to the Helford, walkers with access to Trebah and the coast path.

**Less good for:** Those wanting sea views (no sea view at this property) or guests needing a hot tub or wood burner.
