The Old Cattle Barn

The Old Cattle Barn is a converted four-bedroom barn near Launceston, sleeping ten guests across two bathrooms. Altarnun is the nearest town, a Bodmin Moor village known for St Nonna's church, sometimes called the Cathedral of the Moor for its size and 79 carved bench ends, and for its setting near Daphne du Maurier's Jamaica Inn.

Underfloor heating runs through the open-plan living area. WiFi, parking, EV charging, a dishwasher, a washing machine and a garden are included, and dogs are welcome. Changeover day is Saturday. Larger groups should ask the owners how the beds are arranged across the four rooms before booking.

This is an inland base rather than a coastal one. Bossiney Cove is 11.0 miles away, Crackington Haven Beach is 11.1 miles away and Tregardock Beach is 11.4 miles from the barn, so every beach trip needs a car. Launceston itself has a Norman castle with a round keep overlooking the town, plus the Launceston Steam Railway for a rainy-day outing.

**Best for:** Larger groups wanting open-plan space, underfloor heating, EV charging and laundry facilities within reach of Bodmin Moor.

**Less good for:** Guests who need the bed layout settled before they book, more than two bathrooms, or a beach within a short drive.
