Higher Kernick Farm

Higher Kernick Farm is a four-bedroom split-level cottage in the village of Egloskerry, near Launceston in east Cornwall, sleeping eight. An open fire in the lounge-diner and enclosed gardens on multiple sides make it a reasonable country retreat for larger groups.

Four distinct sleeping arrangements give flexibility: a king-size with en-suite shower, a super king-size that converts to twin via zip-link, an upper-level master with dressing area and private balcony, and upper-level adult bunks. The kitchen-diner has an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge-freezer, and dishwasher. Two further bathrooms - one with bath and separate shower, one a Jack and Jill - serve the remaining bedrooms. WiFi and a washing machine are included.

This is a countryside base, not a coastal one. The nearest beaches - Millook and Crackington Haven on the north Cornwall coast - are over 11 miles away. Launceston itself is a short drive east, with a Norman castle offering views across the Tamar Valley, the extraordinary carved granite exterior of St Mary Magdalene Church, and a heritage steam railway through the Kensey Valley. Bodmin Moor is to the south-west. The village pub is 2 miles from the property and the nearest shop is 4 miles.

**Best for:** Groups of 6-8 wanting a quiet rural base in east Cornwall, with easy access to Launceston and Bodmin Moor rather than the coast. **Less good for:** Anyone prioritising beach access - Crackington Haven and Bude are a half-hour drive at minimum.
