The Port Hole

The Port Hole is a three-bedroom, dog-friendly cottage in Port Isaac with sea views over the rooftops of this north Cornwall fishing village. It sleeps 6, sits right in the heart of the village, and has an enclosed garden - unusual for Port Isaac, where many properties are terraced with no outdoor space.

The cottage has 3 bedrooms: a king-size double, a zip-and-link twin (convertible to super-king on request), and a bunk room that works well for children. There is 1 bathroom. A BBQ in the garden and off-road parking round out the practical amenities. Wi-Fi and a dishwasher and washing machine are included. The single bathroom is a consideration for a group of 6; a hot tub is not available.

Port Gaverne Beach is 0.4 miles east on foot - a sheltered sandy cove with calm water for swimming and kayaking at low tide. The South West Coast Path passes directly through the village, with cliff walks north towards Port Quin and south towards Tintagel. The village's own harbour is 14th century; Nathan Outlaw's two-Michelin-star restaurant is a short walk away, though booking well ahead is essential. Polzeath, a bigger surf beach, is 4 miles away. Best for: families with dogs who want a genuine fishing village rather than a resort, with the coast path on the doorstep. Less good for: groups needing more than one bathroom or an accessible ground-floor layout.
