For coast days, Plaidy Beach near Looe - a sheltered sand and shingle beach with calm swimming and good rock pooling - is about 9.7 miles south. East Looe Beach is around 10 miles and Downderry around 10.4 miles, both reachable in roughly 20 minutes by car. Carnglaze Caverns, a former slate quarry with underground lakes, is a few miles west and suits wet-day visits. The Looe Valley Line branch railway connects Liskeard station to Looe in around 30 minutes and is one of the most enjoyable short rail journeys in Cornwall.
