Victorian Police Station Apartment

Victorian Police Station Apartment occupies a converted police station in Launceston built in 1886, which served as the town and county police station until 1977. Current owners Emma and Ziggy bought the building from the Royal British Legion in October 2021. The ground-floor apartment sleeps two in a bedroom converted from two of the original police cells.

The renovated cells now hold a bedroom, kitchenette and shower room, with a walk-in shower, refrigerator, microwave and soundproofing throughout. Streaming services and a dining area are included, along with a private garden and off-street parking. Free WiFi is available.

Launceston Castle, a Norman fortress that once made the town Cornwall's county seat, is a 4-minute walk away. Launceston sits between Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor, and the surviving packhorse bridge and St Mary Magdalene's carved church front are both within a few minutes on foot. A Co-op supermarket is a 4-minute walk, and the ancient Bell Inn nearby hosts folk and shanty nights. The coast is a longer trip: Millook Beach is 13.2 miles from the apartment.

Best for guests exploring inland Cornwall, Dartmoor day trips or the town's independent shops and cafes, most within a five-minute walk. Less good for a beach holiday, since the nearest coast is a 20-minute drive.
