Watergate

Watergate is a four-bedroom renovated countryside cottage set on the sheltered side of a valley near Wadebridge, sleeping eight across three double bedrooms and a bunk room. Three bathrooms and two separate living spaces - a main lounge with open fire and a second garden room - make this work for a full group rather than just couples.

Inside, the south-facing aspect draws light through the main rooms, with views across the valley. A large kitchen, separate dining room and utility room complete the layout. Wi-Fi runs throughout, and the cottage welcomes dogs.

Outside, just under four acres of gardens and grounds surround the property, with a barbecue area, fire pit and seating spread across the site. Off-road parking is on site.

Wadebridge town sits a short drive south, with shops, cafes and the start of the Camel Trail. Padstow is reachable along the Trail - roughly 5 miles by bike - for the harbour and Rick Stein's restaurants. Port Isaac, Polzeath and Daymer Bay are all within a 20-minute drive for the coast.

Best for groups of six to eight, families with dogs, or two families sharing. Less good for those wanting walkable village access or sea views from the cottage.
