18 Meadow Retreat

Two rooms set 18 Meadow Retreat apart from most lodges: a games room with a pool table, dartboard and space invader table, and a separate cinema room. The single-storey lodge sits on the 22-acre Southern Halt site in Dobwalls, with Bodmin Moor behind it and Looe, Polperro and Fowey on the south coast.

The bedrooms are a double and a twin, and each can be zip-linked to change type: the double can become a twin, and the twin a king-size, on request. There are two bathrooms, one with a bath and shower over, the other a shower room with a walk-in shower. Bed linen and towels are included, and so are fuel and power. A travel cot (no mattress) and a highchair can be hired.

Living space is open plan, with the kitchen, dining area and sitting area together. The kitchen has an electric oven, gas hob and microwave, the lodge has central heating and Wi-Fi, and outside is an enclosed decked area with a table and chairs. Off-road parking is provided, and an electric vehicle charging point is available at an extra cost.

Booking rules to know: check-in is from 4pm and check-out is at 10am, Sunday arrivals are not permitted, barbecues cannot be brought onto the site, and the lodge is no smoking. Pets are not allowed. A shop and pub are 0.5 miles away, and the site's own team can suggest local outings.

It suits a family or two couples sharing four beds and wanting things to do indoors on wet days, and it is less good for anyone travelling with a dog.
