21 Meadow Retreat

21 Meadow Retreat is a two-bedroom lodge at the edge of a private lake, with a south-facing aspect over the water, in Dobwalls. The king-size bedroom has a TV, a dressing room and an en-suite with a walk-in shower, and the second bedroom has twin beds. A separate bathroom has a bath with a shower over, a basin and WC.

Open-plan living brings together the kitchen, dining area and sitting area. The kitchen has an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher and wine cooler, and there are two TVs, fibre-optic WiFi and gas central heating. Fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included, and two bathrobes are provided.

The enclosed decked area holds a hot tub with a table and chairs. Because of the balcony decking and the open water on the site, children must be accompanied at all times. There are steps to access the property. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, on a lead whenever they are on site. Parking is off-road for two cars, and a travel cot (no mattress) and highchair can be hired.

Shop and pub are both 0.5 miles away. Barbecues cannot be brought to the site, smoking is not allowed, and Sunday arrivals are not permitted; check-in is 4pm and check-out 10am. The lodge suits two couples or a small family with dogs. It is less good for families whose children cannot be watched near water and decking every minute.
