For a longer day, Perranporth beach is 5km south, with 2 miles of sand and a surf school. Wheal Coates, one of the best-preserved mine engine houses on the North Cornish coast, is a 20-minute walk via the South West Coast Path from above Chapel Porth.

Best for two couples or a family of four who want a village base with the coast path and surf close. Less suited to remote workers (no wifi) or anyone needing easy beach access every day - Trevaunance is a walk, not a stroll.
