4 Ocean 1 is a ground-floor apartment in a gated development at Pentire, on the edge of Newquay, sleeping four just 0.2 miles from Fistral Beach.

A large living room combines a well-equipped kitchen, dining area and a window seat facing the sea. The kitchen has a dishwasher and there is a washing machine in the apartment, useful for a family stay. The double bedroom has its own en suite and a smart TV, while the twin bedroom sits opposite the family bathroom. The ground-floor layout and private parking space at the gated entrance suit guests who find stairs difficult. There is no garden, though a balcony provides space for alfresco dining and drying wetsuits after a surf.

Crantock Beach and Towan Beach are each 0.9 miles away; Crantock can be reached on foot at low tide or by a short ferry crossing the Gannel Estuary. Fistral Beach remains the main draw, reached along the coastal path, which continues the other way into Newquay for restaurants, cafes and bars, passing Lewinnick Lodge on the Pentire headland.

Best for surfers who want to walk to Fistral, couples or small groups needing single-level access, and guests happy to leave the car parked for the week. Less good for anyone travelling with a dog, since pets are not allowed here, or guests who want a private garden rather than a balcony.
