9 Meadow Retreat

The roof top sky deck and an indoor garden room are unusual outdoor and indoor extras at 9 Meadow Retreat, a single-storey lodge for two in Dobwalls. It lies near Bodmin Moor, with Looe, Polperro and Fowey on the South Cornish coast.

Inside, a cinema room has leather reclining chairs, and the spa area holds a Jacuzzi bath and a sauna. The king-size bedroom is the only bedroom, and the shower room has a walk-in shower, basin and WC. The open-plan living space brings together the kitchen, dining area and sitting area, and there are two TVs and Wi-Fi.

The kitchen has an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge, washing machine and dishwasher, and the lodge has gas central heating. Bed linen, towels, fuel and power are included. A travel cot (no mattress) and highchair can be hired. Parking is off-road for one car, and an electric vehicle charging point is available at an extra cost.

Steps lead up to the property. A lake is on site, so children must be supervised at all times. Barbecues cannot be brought onto the site, Sunday arrivals are not permitted, and the lodge is no smoking. Pets are not allowed. Check-in is from 4pm and check-out by 10am, and a shop and pub are 0.5 miles away.

It is best for couples who like film nights and a sauna, and less good for anyone who finds steps difficult.
