Devine Lodge

Devine Lodge turns the usual layout upside down: three bedrooms and both bathrooms are on the ground floor, and the open-plan living room, dining area and kitchen are upstairs, opening onto an extended balcony with seating. It stands on the Tamar Valley Resort between Callington and Gunnislake, in south-east Cornwall, and sleeps six.

The bedrooms are a king-size and two twins, one of which has zip-and-link beds that can be made up as a super-king on request. There is a shower room with a walk-in shower and a bathroom with a bath and shower over. The kitchen has a dishwasher, microwave, fridge and electric oven and hob. A Smart TV, DVD player, WiFi and Bluetooth speaker are provided.

Guests share the resort's indoor and outdoor heated pools, mini gym and tennis courts, and the shop and pub are 100 metres away. The outdoor pool opens from mid-May to mid-September, weather permitting, the tennis courts open from Easter until October half term, and the pools and gym are booked at reception once you arrive. Under-16s cannot use the gym, and under-16s in the pool need an adult, with no lifeguards on duty.

One pet is welcome for a weekly charge; breeds listed under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 are not permitted. Parking is one off-road space. Heating is electric, and fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included, with a cot, highchair and stair gate available. The water supply is private and tested regularly, workers and contractors cannot stay on the park, and smoking is not allowed. The lodge suits a family who want on-site facilities, and is less good for groups travelling with more than one dog.
