Polzeath surf beach is 4.2 miles south; the Rock ferry crossing to Padstow is a 20-minute drive. The Fisherman's Friends perform shanties on the harbour plinth - ask locally for dates.
Best for couples or a small family wanting a village-centre base with sea views and no driving to the beach. Less suited to guests needing more than 300m of level walking to water - Port Isaac's lanes involve some steep steps down to the harbour.
