Gwel Teg

Gwel Teg is a four-bedroom farmhouse on a rural lane near Bodmin, sleeping eight across three super-king beds (convertible to twins on request) and one king-size. The farmhouse holds an 8/10 star rating and sits close enough to town for supplies while feeling genuinely removed from traffic and noise.

Inside, the sitting room has an open fire for colder months, and a fitted kitchen handles groups of eight without friction - dishwasher, washing machine, and full-size appliances throughout. Two bathrooms serve the four bedrooms, and the layout suits two families sharing or a larger group. Wi-Fi is included throughout.

The enclosed front and rear gardens are a strong draw for guests travelling with dogs - up to three are welcome. A BBQ is available for the garden. Woodland footpaths start from the lane outside, with routes connecting to Cardinham Woods' 8 miles of trails about 2 miles east. The Camel Trail cycle path, which runs 11.5 miles from Bodmin to Padstow, begins at the town's edge.

Bodmin's position makes this a genuinely central Cornwall base. The Eden Project is 13 miles south-east. Port Gaverne Beach on the north coast is 9.6 miles, and Carlyon Bay on the south coast is 10.1 miles - so either coastline is under 30 minutes by car. Port Isaac, Padstow, and Boscastle are all within 20 miles.

**Best for:** larger families and groups with dogs who want a rural inland base with easy access to both coasts. **Less good for:** those wanting a beach-walking holiday - the nearest beach is a drive rather than a walk.
