Master Shipwrights House

Master Shipwrights House sits on a tidal creek off the Fal estuary, attached to a working boatyard a few miles north of Mylor Bridge. It sleeps 8 across four bedrooms and was built by a sailing family - the lintel above the fireplace was salvaged from the keelson of the 1895 Brixham trawler Pilgrim.

The ground floor is a single open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge space opening to a lawned garden with firepit and pergola made from old boat masts. The kitchen has a double electric Aga, induction hob and American-style fridge-freezer, with a ceramic sink set into salvaged timber. Bedrooms upstairs run as a super king with walk-in wardrobe, a king, a double and a child-tailored twin (adults welcome too), served by an en suite and a separate bathroom with roll-top bath. A separate games room with table tennis and beanbags handles wet days.

Sailors get a private pontoon mooring for trailer-sailers and can launch paddleboards or kayaks from the steps. The neighbouring Butler & Co boatyard runs Monday to Thursday from 7:30am to 6:00pm, so light industrial noise is part of the deal on weekdays. Trelissick Garden and the King Harry Ferry across to the Roseland are within a few miles, Falmouth and Truro are both inside 20 minutes by car.

Best for sailing groups, multi-generational families and dog owners who want estuary access. Less good for anyone wanting silence on weekdays or guaranteed sea views from the door.
