Liskeard, with a mainline railway station and full range of shops, is about 7km. The Looe Valley Line - a single-track branch railway that runs through woodland between Liskeard and Looe - passes near St Keyne, where the halt is within reasonable walking distance.

Looe's beaches are the practical coast option. East Looe Beach is 7.5km, a tidal estuary strand backed by the town's independent shops and fish restaurants. Plaidy Beach is 7.2km, a smaller and less busy cove on the eastern edge of the Looe peninsula. Hannafore Beach, facing west across the bay to Looe Island, is 8.2km.

Works for couples who want a proper farm stay in a quiet corner of southeast Cornwall, with the Looe coast accessible by car. Not great for guests who rely on public transport or want to walk to the beach.
