Monterey - Tehidy

Monterey is a single-storey architect-designed cottage sleeping 6 across 3 super-king bedrooms, set on the edge of Tehidy Country Park woodland near Portreath. The 2 bathrooms are well-specified, and the design throughout reflects considered architectural decisions rather than typical holiday-let fittings. An open fire in the living area sets the tone for colder months, while the private landscaped garden has a hot tub and BBQ for evenings out.

The garage has been converted into a games room - useful for wet days on the north Cornwall coast. All 3 super-king beds can be reconfigured as a twin on request (minimum one week's notice), which gives groups flexibility on bedroom arrangement. Up to 2 dogs are welcome, and Tehidy Golf Club is around 1.7 miles away for golfers in the party.

The woodland trails of Tehidy Country Park start from the property edge - roughly 250 acres of ancient oak woodland on former mining estate land, with way-marked paths. Portreath Beach is about 1.9 miles, a sandy north coast strand with reliable surf and RNLI lifeguards in summer. Godrevy Beach is around 4.3 miles, with its lighthouse and seal colony. The Portreath to Devoran Coast-to-Coast route starts nearby for cyclists.

Best for: groups and families wanting seclusion with direct outdoor access and a luxury feel. Less good for: those without a car - the village of Portreath is 1.9 miles and there's no regular local transport.
