Penpraze is a three-storey four-bedroom house in Portreath for seven, set 300m from the harbour beach with sea views from the sitting room, balcony, and top-floor bedrooms. Dog-friendly for up to two, with parking for two cars and a separate garage for boards and bikes - useful on a coast where the surf is the reason most guests come.

The bedrooms run across all three floors. Ground floor: a sea-view double and a single with en-suite shower. Upper floors: two super-king rooms set up zip-and-link, so they convert to twins for kids or friend groups. Three bathrooms across the house. The enclosed courtyard garden gives the dogs somewhere to be, and the layout suits two couples plus a small family well.

Portreath Beach is 300m down the lane - a sandy bay between two headlands with the 18th-century tin-export harbour wall on its eastern end. Lifeguarded in summer, with a surf school on the sand and the Beach Bar on the slipway. The South West Coast Path runs west 3 miles to Hell's Mouth and 5 miles to Godrevy lighthouse, east 3 miles to Porthtowan. Tehidy Country Park, 250 acres of woodland and lakes, lies 2 miles inland.

Best for a multi-generation group or two families wanting sea views, two parking spaces, and a 5-minute walk to the sand. Less good for guests who want everything on one floor - the layout is split across three.
