The Porthcurno Valley is home to a fine collection of properties, a beach considered one of the best in the world for its white sand and clear water, and the Minack Theatre, which hosts live performances on the cliff top above. In the late 1800s the first international telegraph cable was brought ashore here, connecting Britain to India and later other parts of the Empire - pioneering work now celebrated at the Porthcurno Telegraph Museum. The South West Coast Path links the village to Land’s End to the west and Penzance to the east, where Jubilee Pool is the UK’s largest Art Deco saltwater lido and ferries depart for the Isles of Scilly.

Telegraph operation at Porthcurno ceased in 1970, a century after it began, and this terraced cottage is part of what was once the Cable and Wireless training college, now offering accommodation for six. The open-plan kitchen and dining area has traditional dining furniture and bench-style seating, with double doors into a lounge with sofas for conversation and TV time, plus a ground-floor cloakroom. Upstairs, a shower room serves three bedrooms - two with a king-size bed and one with twin beds, all with wardrobes and drawers - and one king-size room has its own en-suite bathroom.

Two patios, one at the front and one at the back of the building, offer outdoor seating in sun or shade. Shared tennis courts are just across the road.

Best for two families or a group of six sharing three bedrooms, with one king-size room’s en-suite giving extra privacy. Less good for anyone travelling with dogs, since the property does not accept them.
