The village is compact and pedestrian-friendly from the harbour end, with independent shops, fish restaurants, and a small aquarium. The Mevagissey Museum covers the fishing history of the port.

Pentewan Beach, a long sandy stretch with a holiday park behind it, is 1.6 miles north. Gorran Haven, a quieter cove with good swimming and a small car park, is 2 miles south. Hemmick Beach - one of the most remote coves on the south coast, accessible only by a steep narrow lane - is 2.9 miles. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are under 2 miles inland, and the Eden Project is roughly 8 miles via the B3273.

This property is well suited to couples who want a village base with hot tub comfort and a walk down to a working harbour. Guests who need step-free access should check with the owner before booking. No babies or children are allowed at the property. It is also less suited to anyone expecting more than one bedroom or bathroom.

Pentewan Beach has a slipway and good parking - easier than driving into Mevagissey itself.
