Launceston, 10km north, has a Norman castle and a wider range of services including supermarkets.

Day trips from Bray Shop take in the Tamar Valley railway line, which runs from Plymouth to Gunnislake through steep wooded gorges. Dartmoor's southern edge is accessible in around 30 minutes. The coast at Looe and Downderry is a reasonable drive rather than a walk.

This property is a good fit for a couple or small family who want a quiet countryside retreat with guaranteed swimming whatever the weather. Shared pool access and the games room give children indoor activity options. It is less good for guests whose priority is coastal walking or easy beach access.
