Rose Cottage

Rose Cottage stands in the village of Pipers Pool, four miles west of Launceston in the upper Tamar Valley, and dates back around 300 years. Exposed beams and a stone fireplace mark the sitting room, where a woodburning stove heats the evenings.

Two double bedrooms are upstairs and share a bathroom with a bath, shower over, basin and WC. The kitchen/diner has a range cooker with an oven and gas hob, plus a microwave, fridge, washing machine, blender, kettle and toaster. Oil central heating keeps the cottage warm, and fuel and power, bed linen and towels are all included in the rent.

Outside there are several garden areas and off-road parking for three cars. Pets are not accepted and smoking is not allowed. The nearest shop is 6 miles away and the pub 2.7 miles, so plan your food shopping before you arrive.

The cottage suits two couples or a family of four who want a quiet village base and do not mind driving for supplies; it is less good for anyone bringing a dog. Days out include Dartmoor National Park, with its granite tors and roaming ponies, Launceston, a market town with a Norman castle, and the sandy beaches and sea pool at Bude.
