Smugglers is a three-bedroom, first-floor apartment sleeping 6 in the courtyard complex at Helford Passage, with Helford Passage Beach 100 metres from the door. The apartment was fully refurbished in a navy and copper kitchen scheme, with maps, oars and nautical details through the living space. From £632 per week.

Inside, there are three bedrooms, a bathroom with a double walk-in shower, an open-plan living and dining area, and a hand-built bench seat at the dining table. The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine. WiFi runs throughout, and 14 gallery images are available.

Shared facilities at Helford Passage include a heated outdoor pool open from May to September, on-site kayak and paddleboard hire, and the Ferryboat Inn on the waterfront serving local seafood. Ponsence Cove is around 1 mile along the coast path, and Porth Saxon Beach is a similar distance in the other direction. The seasonal foot ferry crosses the Helford River to Helford village on the south bank, operating from Easter to October.

Trebah Garden - a 26-acre ravine garden with a private beach on the Helford River - is half a mile from the apartment. Glendurgan Garden (National Trust) is next door. Falmouth is around 20 minutes by car for restaurants, galleries and the National Maritime Museum.

Best for: families or groups of up to 6 wanting direct river and beach access, kayaking, and sub-tropical gardens without needing to drive far. Less good for: those expecting sea views - the outlook here is over the river estuary rather than open coast.
