Port Gaverne Beach - a sheltered cove with calm water for swimming and rock pools at low tide - is about 200 metres away. The harbour, where boats still launch at low tide, is a similar distance. Nathan Outlaw's Michelin-starred restaurant and several fish-focused pubs are within a few minutes' walk. The Platt - where the Fisherman's Friends traditionally sing sea shanties - is at the foot of the village. The South West Coast Path heads west to Port Quin, about 2 miles along the cliff. Polzeath Beach, with surf and a surf school, is around 4 miles south by road.
**Best for:** groups of 6-8 wanting a central Port Isaac base with village restaurants and the coast path on the doorstep, and enough bathrooms to avoid morning queues. **Less good for:** dog owners (no pets), anyone needing step-free access, or those wanting a quiet, remote escape - Port Isaac is busy in summer.
