The Shippon

The Shippon is a stone barn conversion on Lee Barton Farm estate near Bude, sleeping 8 across 3 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms. The open-plan ground floor runs kitchen into dining into living space, with double doors opening to an enclosed garden with outdoor seating. Parking for 3 cars is available on site. Wi-Fi, dishwasher, and washing machine are included. Dogs are welcome. Changeover is Saturday.

The farm is a working agricultural estate, which gives the property a genuine rural character distinct from purpose-built holiday parks.

Duckpool Beach is 1.7 miles - reached by a narrow lane down into a National Trust valley where the sea meets cliffs and a freshwater stream. It's one of the fewer-visited beaches on this stretch and rarely crowded outside of August. Sandymouth Beach is 2.1 miles, another NT beach with a seasonal cafe. Northcott Mouth is 2.8 miles, adjacent to Bude's surf zone. Bude itself is about 5 miles south and has supermarkets, surf hire, and the tidal Summerleaze pool.

Best for a group of 8 - extended family or two families travelling together - who want a dog-friendly working farm setting and don't mind being a short drive from facilities. The 3 bathrooms for 8 people is a practical advantage for larger groups. Less good for couples or small parties who'd find the space too large for their needs.

The nearest pub is in Kilkhampton, about 1.9 miles from the farm.
