The Studio

A converted artist's studio above Rinsey on the cliffs west of Germoe, sleeping four in two bedrooms with two bathrooms, one of them the ground-floor wet room. The cottage sits 400m above Porthcew (Rinsey Cove), with sea views west toward Cudden Point and the Penwith headlands. Dogs welcome.

The studio runs across two levels. Three steps lead down from the kitchen and dining room to the sitting room, which has the ground-floor twin bedroom and wet room, and open-tread stairs lead up to the double bedroom with its en-suite. There's a wood-burning stove in the sitting room, dishwasher, washing machine and wifi, and parking is on site. The path down to the cove is steep with loose granite in places - good shoes essential, especially in wet weather. The garden is enclosed, useful with a dog, and has a raised area within it.

Rinsey is a hamlet on the National Trust headland between Porthleven and Praa Sands, with the restored Wheal Prosper engine house on the cliff edge above the cove. Prussia Cove is 2.2 miles west along the coast path, Praa Sands is 1 mile east with the Sand Bar pub built into the dunes, and Porthleven harbour with Rick Stein's Cornish Arms is a 10-minute drive east. St Michael's Mount is 4 miles north across the bay. Saturday changeover.

Best for couples or a family of four with a dog wanting cliff-top quiet and a cove on the doorstep. Less good for guests with mobility issues attempting the cove path.
