Watergate

Watergate is a four-bedroom cottage for eight, 1.1 miles from Mawgan Porth beach. Four zip-and-link beds can switch between super-king-size and twin configurations, so the layout adjusts to whichever mix of couples, friends or family the group brings.

The open-plan ground floor combines the kitchen, dining area and lounge, and widened doorframes lead from the entrance through to the open-plan living space. Two bedrooms are on the ground floor, one with an en-suite wet room. Two bathrooms serve the cottage in total. The lounge has sofas and a Smart TV, and the two upstairs bedrooms share the family bathroom. Wi-Fi, parking and a washing machine are provided, and up to two dogs are welcome.

A decked area with seating and a barbecue sits beside an on-site fishing lake, giving the garden a second focus beyond the lawn. St Mawgan, the nearest village, has the 13th-century church of St Mawgan, the Falcon Inn and the Japanese garden at Lanherne Convent. Bedruthan Steps Beach is 2 miles away and Watergate Bay 2.1 miles, both a short drive rather than a walk.

**Best for:** extended families or friends wanting flexible beds, a ground-floor wet room and an on-site fishing lake. Guests who need step-free access should check with the owner before booking.
