3 Horizon View

Two dogs are welcome at 3 Horizon View, a single-storey lodge for four in the grounds at Dobwalls, with Bodmin Moor as its backdrop. Dogs need one precaution: the decking is not dog safe, so guests must stay with their dog whenever it is out there.

The double bedroom has an en-suite with a walk-in shower, basin and WC, and the twin bedroom shares the family bathroom, which has a bath with a shower over. The open-plan living area brings together the kitchen, dining area and sitting area, with access to the terrace. Heating is electric and central, and the TV has Freeview and a DVD player; there is a Bluetooth speaker and Wi-Fi.

The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and dishwasher. On the private decked terrace are furniture and a sunken hot tub. Bed linen, towels, fuel and power are included, and a travel cot (no mattress) and highchair can be hired. Parking is off-road for 2 cars, with further parking on site.

Check-in is at 4pm and check-out at 10am. Sunday arrivals are not permitted, barbecues cannot be brought onto the site, and the lodge is no smoking. Charging an electric vehicle is not permitted. There is a lake in the grounds, so children need supervising at all times. The shop and pub are 0.5 miles away.

It suits a family or two couples travelling with one or two dogs, and is less good for anyone with a small child who might wander, given the lake and the decking.
