A two-bedroom terraced cottage in the Lansallos hamlet, 3 miles west of Polperro on Cornwall's south coast. Sleeps 4 in a double and a twin - the period unit in the four-cottage Rose Cottages cluster, with the original low beams, uneven floorboards and low ceilings preserved.

The bedrooms share one walk-in shower room. A combined kitchen-dining area opens into a sitting room with electric fire. WiFi, washing machine and Smart TV are included; there is no dishwasher and no wood burner. The age of the building shows in tight headroom upstairs - tall guests should expect to duck under doorways and ceiling beams. Front and side lawned gardens, plus on-site parking with overflow at the National Trust car park nearby.

Lansallos cove sits 1.3km away by footpath, a National Trust rocky beach with clear water for swimming and snorkelling but no facilities. Lantic Bay is 3.5km along the South West Coast Path via a steep cliff descent. The cottage sits within Cornwall National Landscape, surrounded by farmland; the nearest shop and pub are 2.6 miles east in Polperro, where cars are banned from the inner village and around 13 fishing boats still work the harbour.

Best for couples or a quiet family of four who like character cottages and walking. Less good for tall guests, dog owners (no pets) or anyone wanting modern open-plan space.
