Tregony sits at the head of the Fal estuary, which silted up centuries ago and left the village stranded inland. It has a pub and a community-run shop. The the Roseland area south of here holds some of south Cornwall's least-visited coastline - Porthluney Bay is 3.4 miles away and Hemmick Beach 4.3 miles, both without the ice cream queues of the main resorts.

Pentewan Beach, with a large holiday park behind it, is 3.7 miles. Mevagissey's fishing harbour is about 5 miles south and worth visiting for the working boats and the small museum. The market town of St Austell, with a mainline station, is around 6.2 miles north-east.

Good for a couple wanting a quiet base to explore the south Cornwall coast without paying St Mawes prices. Less good for guests who need a dishwasher. Friday changeover.
