Glencoe Cottage

Glencoe is a three-bedroom stone cottage in Polperro, sitting on the River Pol in one of the narrow lanes a few minutes' walk from the harbour. The cottage sleeps five across three bedrooms and comes with a welcome pack on arrival.

The interior centres on a natural stone fireplace with a wood-burning stove - logs are available locally in season. Slate floors with underfloor heating run through the ground floor. A conservatory at the rear of the property looks directly over the River Pol, giving a quiet spot away from the main village lanes.

The harbour is about a two-minute walk from the front door. Polperro has a cluster of inns, galleries, and fish restaurants within the village, and the Heritage Museum of Smuggling and Fishing - based in a former pilchard factory above the harbour - is open daily Easter to October. The coast path west to Talland Bay (1.7km) and south towards Lekerock Cove Beach (1.4km) both start from the harbour mouth. Looe is about 4 miles east by the coast path, or a quicker drive via the A387.

Best for: couples or families of five wanting a village-centre base with character and direct access to the coast path. Less good for: guests needing parking on the doorstep - Polperro bans cars from the inner village, and the Crumplehorn car park is a half-mile walk from the cottage.
