Seaways

Seaways is a four-bedroom house on a hillside above Polperro, one of the few self-catering properties on this stretch of the south Cornwall coast with a private outdoor pool. Sea views carry from most rooms, and the South West Coast Path runs from the foot of the garden. From £2,134 per week.

Inside, tall ceilings and wide windows keep the living spaces light. The kitchen and separate lounge are on the main floor, with four bedrooms and three bathrooms spread across the house - a practical layout for two couples or a family with older children. An open fire is included for shoulder-season visits. Dogs are welcome.

The heated outdoor pool and sunken hot tub sit at the centre of the cottage, with sun loungers and a large terrace for evening meals. Pool and hot tub run mid-May to mid-September only. Wifi and parking are included. Note: the property has several external steps and is not suitable for guests with mobility difficulties.

Polperro village and its working harbour - around 13 registered fishing boats still operate from the quay - are a short walk downhill. The Blue Peter Inn is the main pub. The coast path east reaches Looe in about 5 miles; west leads to Lansallos and eventually Fowey.

Best for two couples or a family with teenagers wanting coastal walking alongside pool time. Less good for groups needing ground-floor accessibility or a village-centre location.
