The Old Bank House

The Old Bank House is a Grade II listed cottage converted from a former bank, in the centre of Mevagissey. Shops, pubs and the harbour are all 100 yards away. It sleeps ten across six bedrooms and four bathrooms, on a reverse-level plan over three floors.

The ground floor holds two king-size doubles and a double, each with an en-suite walk-in shower. The first floor has the kitchen, the dining room and a sitting room with an open fire. The second floor has a Superking bedroom and a bathroom with a corner bath and a shower over it, and a single bedroom sits on each of the first and second floors. There is a utility room with a cloakroom WC, and the house has a washing machine, a tumble dryer and a dishwasher. Oil central heating runs throughout, and fuel, power, bed linen and towels are covered by the rent. A cot, a highchair and a stairgate are available.

Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, and smoking is not allowed. There are sash windows and a minstrels' gallery on the second floor, so young children need supervising. Bookings run from Saturday only, and short stays are not taken at peak times.

St Austell is 5.5 miles from the village, Charlestown 7 miles and the Eden Project 11 miles, and Truro is 16 miles. The house suits two or three families or a group of friends, and it is less good for young children who cannot be supervised on the upper floors.
