A large balcony overlooking the beach has picnic benches and chairs

This Art Deco house near Fistral Beach has featured on architect George Clarke’s TV series, and sits 0.25 miles from the beach and under a mile from Newquay’s town centre. Newquay draws surfers year-round for its waves and golden beaches, with excellent restaurants and the Watersports Centre for those learning new skills. Trenance Gardens has a boating lake and crazy golf, and the National Trust’s Trerice Manor, an Elizabethan house, is 3 miles away.

The ground-floor open-plan living room, kitchen and dining area has huge sliding doors on to a balcony with glass balustrade and sea views, with a bright interior that reflects the property’s Art Deco origins. Sofas sit in front of a wood burner and TV, and the dining table seats ten guests alongside a kitchen with breakfast bar. Stairs lead down to garden level, where two king-size bedrooms sit in the main house - one with an en-suite wet room, WC and study area, the other with beach views. There’s also a super-king-size zip-and-link room that can be made into a twin, plus a bunk-bed room and family bathroom. The self-contained Hideaway is separate from the house, with a mini-kitchen, sofa, TV, built-in king-size bed and a wet room shower.

A large balcony overlooking the beach has picnic benches and chairs, while a large, sheltered garden, enclosed by hedges is an ideal spot for a BBQ.

Best for large groups or multi-generational families wanting sea views and a self-contained annexe for extra privacy, with dogs welcome throughout. Less good for anyone who needs wifi, since the property doesn't have it.

Nearby: Fistral (600m) and Crantock Beach (0.7 miles). See our Crantock guide for more beaches and walks in the area.
